POSITION SUMMARY  

The Aquatics Coordinator is responsible for supervising and coordinating all aquatics operations to ensure a safe, welcoming, and high-quality experience for members and guests. This role emphasizes staff leadership, program excellence, and a strong commitment to pool safety and customer service.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Aquatics Coordinator’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Supervise and support all aquatic staff.
• Oversee preschool, group, and private swimming lesson programs.
• Assist with supervision of the outdoor aquatics’ facility during the summer camp season and coordinate instructional swimming programs.
• Teach group and private swimming lessons as needed.
• Create and manage lifeguard schedules to ensure appropriate staffing levels, including special events.
• Serve as a lifeguard when necessary.
• Maintain staff contact lists and certification records, including tracking expiration dates.
• Prepare monthly lifeguard communications and manage staff recognition/incentive initiatives.
• Plan and conduct monthly in-service training.
• Assist with recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and training aquatic staff.
• Coordinate lifeguard certification and recertification courses.
• Work collaboratively with the Aquatics Director regarding pool maintenance and filter room operations.
• Provide support to the swim team program as needed.
• Manage inventory of aquatic equipment and supplies.
• Follow personnel policies outlined in the Weinstein JCC employee handbook.
• Deliver excellent internal and external customer service while fostering respectful collaboration across departments.
• Support initiatives that strengthen community engagement, volunteer involvement, and revenue growth.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS  

• Minimum of 2 years of experience working in an aquatics facility.
• Current American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification.
• Current American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Certification preferred.
• Certified Pool Operator (CPO) Certification preferred.
• American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor Certification preferred.
