Join King George Parks & Recreation team as an Athletics Coordinator! We're seeking a dynamic professional to lead and develop our County's sports programs and athletic activities. Position Overview
As Athletics Coordinator, you'll take a leading role in planning, coordinating, and implementing diverse athletic programs and league sports. This position combines program management, facility coordination, and community engagement to deliver high-quality sports experiences for participants of all ages.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and implement comprehensive athletic programs and leagues
- Coordinate field and facility setup, maintenance, and scheduling
- Manage equipment inventory and distribution
- Recruit, train, and supervise coaches, officials, scorers, and support staff
- Collaborate with schools, youth associations, and community groups
- Assist with budget preparation and program fee assessments
- Develop and maintain program documentation, including rosters and registration records
- Create engaging content for social media and marketing materials
- Ensure proper safety protocols and program standards are maintained
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Parks and Recreation, Sports Management, Physical Education, or related field
- Experience in supervising recreation programs and staff (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
- Thorough knowledge of sports rules, equipment, and safety protocols
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and recreation management software
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities
- Valid Virginia driver's license
- Ability to obtain CPR/AED/First Aid certification within 6 months of hire
Physical Requirements
This position requires moderate physical activity, including the ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and up to 20 pounds frequently. Work is performed both indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.
Schedule
This position requires flexibility to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed to support athletic programs and events.
