VPS Recreation has been in business for over twenty years, changing ownership and name in 2021. We specialize in the sale, installation, and servicing of commercial playground equipment, along with picnic shelters, site furnishings, dog parks, and a wide range of complementary park products. VPS Recreation is incorporated in Virginia and is also a Class A Contractor.

 

Headquartered in Hanover County, Virginia, VPS Recreation is owned and operated by Faye Charles, who assumed leadership of the company in 2021 after it was previously owned by her father, Bob Charles. Faye brings over 15 years of industry experience, having entered the business immediately after college and grown alongside the company before stepping into ownership. VPS Recreation is capable of installing recreational projects of just about any size. We have worked on projects from as low as $100 up to $1.8 million.

Optional Part-Time Ramp

We understand it takes time to build a pipeline. Strong candidates may start part-time while ramping up, with the expectation to transition into a full-time commission role as deals begin closing (6-12 months maximum).

 

What You’ll Do

• Prospect and develop your own leads (municipalities, schools, HOAs, developers, contractors, parks and recreation departments, childcare centers and more)
• Build and maintain relationships with new and existing clients
• Own the full sales cycle from cold outreach to completion of installation
• Collaborate with internal teams on design, logistics, and installation timelines
• Conduct site visits and client meetings to assess needs and present solutions
• Prepare proposals, bids, and project presentations
• Manage and grow your pipeline
• Close deals and drive revenue

 

What We’re Looking For

• Experience in B2B, B2G or municipal sales (not required, but a plus)
• Highly motivated, competitive, and disciplined
• Comfortable working independently without micromanagement
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel within territory and 3-6 out of state travel days per year
• Attend industry events, networking functions, and trade shows

 

Compensation/Commission Structure

• 50% of project profit per sale
• Unlimited earning potential
• High ticket deals = large commissions
• Gas card provided
• Computer provided, if necessary
• Profit margins vary depending on project type, size, and scope

 

Real Deal Examples (Illustrative)

• $100K playground project → $20K profit → $10K commission
• $85K playground project → $13K profit → $6.5K commission
• $34K shade structure project → $5.3K profit → $2.65K commission
• $171K playground/rubber/shade project → $37K profit → $18.5K commission
• $6.5K swings project → $780 profit → $390 commission

These are real examples. Profit margins vary across projects, with some opportunities producing significantly higher or lower commissions.
