Assistant Park Services Division Supervisor

Salary: $68,759.72 - $138,921.58 Annually

General Statement of Duties

Assists with the day-to-day management of activities and staff of one or more functional areas within a division; engages in programmatic and administrative work relating to the responsibility for the supervision and management of a division’s functions; responsibilities include managerial oversight of one or more functional areas of the assigned division; and performs other duties as assigned.

Essential Duties

  • Athletic field experience: Synthetic sports field turf and Natural turf (Bermuda grass)
  • Familiarity with sports field measurement, line marking, and various sports field setups and standards
  • Directly supervise, train, schedule, a team of groundskeepers
  • Plan and execute daily, weekly, and seasonal maintenance programs for multiple synthetic multipurpose fields and synthetic baseball/softball fields
  • Prepare fields for matches, tournaments, practices, and events - ensuring fast, safe, and playable surfaces under tight schedules
  • Coordinate field usage schedules with Sports Coordinators
  • Conduct regular field inspections for safety hazards, wear patterns, compaction, implement corrective actions quickly
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment service logs, and inventory
  • Virginia 3A (Ornamental) and 3B (Turf) pesticide license and certified fertilizer applicator license or the ability to attain within 18 months
  • Strong organizational and communication skills; ability to prioritize in a fast-paced, event-driven environment
  • Basic irrigation system knowledge and the ability to recognize issues a plus

 

Minimum Qualifications

Four (4) year degree in field relevant to assigned area and five (5) years of relevant professional work experience, including at least one (1) year of supervisory experience; OR, any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

     

Additional Information


Requires a valid Class A CDL license with the necessary endorsements to operate Division equipment and vehicles.  

May require other certifications incidental to the management and operations of the assigned division.

A criminal history record check and fingerprinting is conducted on all persons conditionally offered employment, including a conditional offer of initial employment, or a conditional offer to promote, demote, or laterally transfer an employee.

Valid Driver’s License.

Must maintain valid Basic First Aid, Adult CPR/AED Certification.
