General Description
This position assists in the coordination and support for the Town's special events and recreation programming. The incumbent will assist with the setup, execution, and breakdown of events.
This position requires frequent public contact and collaboration with staff, vendors, contractors, and community partners.
Duties and Responsibilities
The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this job. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the job as necessary.
Essential Functions
Assist with the on-site coordination of event logistics, programming, decoration installation, and promotions.
Communicate with participants, exhibitors, staff, vendors, contractors, and the public to ensure successful event operations.
Transport and install event-specific equipment; assist service providers as needed. Assist in directing technicians, contractors, and work crews for event setup and breakdown.
Support administrative tasks including document and correspondence creation, spreadsheets, data entry, and record keeping.
Provide excellent customer service and assist with inquiries from the public. Ensure all events are carried out in a safe, organized, and professional manner.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires a High School diploma or equivalent. At least one (1) year experience in event coordination, recreation, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Successful completion of a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screening.
Class Description
Possess intermediate skill level in Microsoft Office applications {PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook).
Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by event schedules. Valid Virginia Driver's License.
CPR/AED Certification preferred
