General Description

This position is responsible for assisting with facility oversight during programs and events, performing setup and breakdown of equipment, monitoring participant and public use of facilities, and providing customer service. This position works closely with Recreation and Civic Engagement staff to ensure Town facilities are welcoming, properly maintained, and ready for recreational programs, special events, and community rentals.

Duties and Responslbllitles

The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this job. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the job as necessary.

Essential Functions:

Monitor recreation facilities during scheduled programs, special events, and community rentals. Open and close facilities as assigned, ensuring security and safety procedures are followed.

 

Enforce facility rules, policies, and safety standards. Report on facility maintenance needs, safety hazards, or equipment issues to supervisors.

 

Perform facility setup and breakdown, including moving and arranging chairs, tables, and equipment. Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of facilities, including light custodial tasks as needed.

 

Provide excellent customer service to program participants, renters, and the general public. Assist renters, instructors, and community groups with facility usage and program needs.

 

Maintain accurate records such as facility checklists, rental logs, and incident reports. Support Recreation and Civic Engagement programs and events as assigned.

 

 

 


Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

Requires a High School diploma or equivalent.

Experience working in recreation, customer service, or facility operations preferred. Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.

Strong communication and organizational skills.

Special Certifications and Licenses:

Valid Virginia Driver's License required.

CPR/AED Certification required within three months of hire.

Due to the nature of work assignments, employees must be able to perform detailed work on multiple, concurrent tasks with frequent interruptions and under time constraint.

 

The essential duties of this classification may require the ability to regularly talk, hear, see, and perform repetitive motions; frequently reach and finger; and to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, stand, push, pull, lift, walk, grasp, and feel.

 

This classification requires physical exertion up to 50 pounds of force and a negligible amount of force to move objects such as chairs, tables, equipment, and supplies.
