The Parks and Recreation Lead Aide duties will include, but not be limited to:
Primary duties - Rock Wall Programs
Develop and physically conduct programs associated with our Rock Wall for diverse population
Conduct safety check and preventive maintenance o the Rock Wall equipment
Perform and ensure safety protocols and associated record keeping
Assist in the supervision and training of part time staff and volunteers in order to provide leadership and direction.
Initiate emergency protocols when necessary. Serve as certified First Responder
Additional Duties
May plan, lead, coordinate and supervise other programs in a multi-use community recreation center for participants (individual or groups) including but not limited to recreation and leisure programs, specialty equipment and/or events, contest/competitions/tournaments, birthday parties, etc.
Assist full-time staff with the planning of programs and the enforcement of center rules.
Supervise and ensure safety of program areas, patrons and other staff as needed.
Maintain, organize, sanitize, issue, collect, and monitor the use of equipment and supplies in order to ensure availability, proper use, and safety. Assist with monitoring supply inventory.
Implement opening and closing procedures and conduct equipment/facility/room inspections including perform interior and exterior safety checks on a routine basis.
Prepare and submit incident and accident reports to immediate supervisor(s) for documentation.
Assist with compiling monthly attendance report by tracking daily attendance.
Assist with promotion of special events and programs by distributing fliers, displaying banners, posters, updating building marquee, and creating bulletin boards.
Utilize conflict resolution techniques with patrons as needed.
May Transport patrons as required.
Communicate effectively, professionally and thoroughly with the public, patrons, coworkers and volunteers.
Perform indoor and outdoor set up and clean up for daily use of Recreation Center property including all programs, grounds and parking lots.
May require lifting or operating heavy equipment.
Attend formal training as assigned.
Provide facility/room tours for new patrons.
Assist Front Desk with answering phones and general questions from the public.
Open and close Recreation Center program areas.
May serve as Facility Supervisor
Perform other job duties requiring skills, knowledge and physical requirements as demanded by those duties described or less. Individual assignments will be determined by the supervisor based on the current workloads and department needs.
MINIMUMS: High school diploma or GED, or must possess certification in a related field, and three (3) months of related experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Some locations may require a current and valid drivers license. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: May require operation of a motor vehicle to carry out assigned duties. Program staff may transport patrons. Schedules may vary to include work early mornings, days, evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime when required to meet operational needs. Employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies. Individual location assignments will be determined by current department needs.
The Seatack Location is looking for team member(s) to operate programs on our Rock Wall and additional recreation programs. Candidates are required to have experience with rock walls, belaying, unique safety protocols, etc.

Average scheduled hours are dependent upon programming schedule and availability.
As a condition of employment, all part-time employees must attend P&R Connection (Department Orientation). If selected for the position, you will be provided your training date at the time of hire. Training is held from 8:30am-5:00pm, every other Friday, at the Parks & Recreation Administration Building. When an exemption is permittable, a hybrid version of the training is available, but will require training attendance on a weekend.
