Job Summary

We are seeking qualified applicants to take on the regular part-time Preschool Aide positions. This position is responsible for providing care and assistance to preschool-aged children's needs within the program; supporting students; maintaining open communication with children, parents, and staff; and ensuring safety in plans and activities. PRCS serves a diverse demographic, which includes but is not limited to youth, adults, individuals with disabilities, and seniors.

We are currently hiring for the following location(s):
• Loudoun Valley Community Center, Purcellville, VA
• Claude Moore Recreation & Community Center, Sterling, VA

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Oversees the behaviors, communication, and participation of children in program activities; maintains the required staff-to-student ratios; and complies with the established policies and procedures regarding supervision, interactions, and disciplinary matters.
• Assists, promotes, and interacts with children in classroom activities; encourages children to explore and play.
• Interacts with parents, staff, and school site personnel, and contributes to team meetings.
• May carry out additional critical job responsibilities pertinent to the specific role and departmental assignment.

*The schedule for work runs from Monday through Friday. The hours may differ. *

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent and six (6) months of programmatic experience with children.

*Must be physically able to keep up with participants and lift 50 pounds. *

Preferred Qualifications:
• One year of programmatic experience, including previous supervisory experience, is strongly preferred.
• Child Development Association (CDA) certification.

Job Contingencies and Special Requirements

Must undergo pre-employment fingerprinting and Child Protective Services (CPS) background checks. Pass the TB test within 30 days of hire and each year thereafter. Certification in CPR and First Aid must be obtained within 30 days of employment. Have or take OSHA (Bloodborne pathogens) training within 30 days of hire. Annually, it is necessary to fill out a sworn disclosure statement or affirmation that details any criminal convictions or pending criminal charges.
