GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
This is a supervisory position that performs complex tasks and fieldwork in the area of facility operations. The incumbent will lead skilled staff while pursuing strategic and operational goals of the department.   
 
ORGANIZATION:
The Recreation Manager – Facility Operations reports to the Deputy Director and supervises recreation coordinators and recreation program assistants. The incumbent may also provide leadership to part-time personnel, interns, and volunteers.   
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:  

  • Supervises and leads full-time, part-time, and volunteer personnel. Recruits, trains, evaluates, coaches, and provides performance management as required for all direct reports; performs related human resources functions as needed.
  • Develops work schedules as required ensuring proper coverage for programs, events, and facility operations.
  • Investigates, responds to, and resolves difficult and sensitive citizen inquiries related to the implementation of recreation programs or facility operations; provides high levels of customer service at all times.
  • Participates in the development and implementation of department policies and operational processes; ensures programs and facility operations are consistent with goals and interests of the community, department, and County.
  • Collaborates with various county agencies and community groups to identify and administer community recreation programs and facility needs.
  • Participates in the development of the department annual operating budget as required for specific operational division. Oversees purchasing processes for supplies, equipment, and services needed for community programming or facility operations; reconciles expenditures as required. Ensures all subordinate staff are working within established purchasing policies.
  • Accurately tracks, maintains, and oversees the inventory of various equipment, supplies, and assets.
  • Assists with the development and distribution of promotional materials and strategic marketing plans; supports social media promotional efforts and assists with content development.
  • Supports large, countywide special events and programs.
  • Performs other duties as required.
  • Oversees the scheduling and use of recreation facilities; works closely with facility users to coordinate space and equipment needs.
  • Performs periodic inspections of equipment and grounds to ensure all areas meet established standards; coordinates third party inspections for mechanical and safety systems. Completes inspection checklists as required.
  • Works closely with Park Services and General Services to schedule facility maintenance and repairs; acts as a liaison to private contractors performing maintenance tasks; assists with general facility maintenance as required.
  • Assists with the planning and facilitation of programs held in the recreation facility; works closely with recreation coordinators to schedule appropriate space and equipment to support community programs.
  • Coordinates staff schedules to ensure proper facility coverage at all times.
  • Completes customer transactions as required including program registrations, facility rentals, and other financial processes; operates point of sale systems as required.
