The Parks and Recreation Lead Aide - Drop-in Child-Care programs duties will include, but not be limited to:

Planning, leading and supervising diversified recreational programs and services including structured and unstructured programs and activities for primarily youth ages 3-8 in a recreation setting;  

Activities include games, sports, arts and crafts and special events

Supervise, discipline and all aspects of programming

Greets customers and monitors program areas

Enforces facility policies and procedures

Physically sets up rooms including tables, chairs and recreation equipment maybe required

Perform other job duties requiring skills, knowledge and physical requirements as demanded by those duties described or less. Individual assignments will be determined by the supervisor based on then current workloads and department needs.

High school diploma or GED, must possess certification in a related field or 3 months of related experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
• Some locations may require a current and valid Virginia or North Carolina driver’s license in accordance with Virginia or North Carolina DMV driver’s license eligibility requirements

This pool of applicants may fill positions for multiple locations.

The majority of the work schedule will range during the hours of:
Monday - Friday 7:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
Monday -Thursday 4:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
Saturday 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

We will be hiring for various Community Center Locations from this pool.
The individual selected for this position will be housed at a primary site but may be scheduled between other sites/facilities. Schedules can be adjusted seasonally and will vary weekly based on programs, events, facility coverage, and weather. Maximum scheduled hours up to 27 hours per week.

Some assignments may require overtime or split shifts to cover operational needs.

All employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours or maybe be relocated to another location or job assignment in response to short- term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies including weekends, evenings and holidays.
As a condition of employment, all part-time employees must attend P&R Connection (Department Orientation). If selected for the position, you will be provided your training date at the time of hire. Training is held from 8:30am-5:00pm, every other Friday, at the Parks & Recreation Administration Building. When an exemption is permittable, a hybrid version of the training is available, but will require training attendance on a weekend.
