Activity Center Aide - After School Program

The Activity Center Aide duties will include, but not be limited to:

• Assist with the planning and implementation of the daily schedule in programs in order to ensure participants have a quality experience.
• Set up and breakdown tables and equipment
• Set up games and activities
• Assist with handling emergencies as they arise in order to prevent injury/incident
• Perform other job duties requiring skills, knowledge and physical requirements as demanded by those duties described or less. Individual assignments will be determined by the supervisor based on the current workloads and department needs.

MINIMUMS: Some high school or GED. 16 years or older, plus at least 240 hours of related volunteer or work experience in youth related programs such as babysitting, camps, church groups, scouting, coaching, etc.; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be available to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime when required to meet operational needs. Therapeutic Recreation Programs & Inclusion Services prefer volunteer or work experience with special needs populations. At programs providing direct child care, convictions of any barrier crime set forth in Virginia Code 63.2- 1719 shall be an automatic disqualification for employment in this position. At child care program locations licensed by the Virginia State Department of Social Services additional qualifications are determined by the current state standards and guidelines.
