We're seeking qualified applicants to fill the Preschool Teacher position. Operating under the general supervision of the assigned supervisor, teaches essential skills to preschool children at the specified location for the County. This position offers educational activities for preschool children; establishes and maintains basic rules to ensure classroom order; fosters physical, mental, and social development through games, arts, crafts, music, and field trips; converses with parents about children's development; and coordinates assignments for aides.

• Douglas Community Center, Leesburg, VA
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Facilitates, motivates, and engages children during classroom activities; involves children in exploration and play; and aids children with their self-care requirements.
• Creates activities for preschool programs.
• Supervises children.
• Monitors and assesses the developmental progress of children; sets up classroom routines and activities; adheres to established playground supervision protocols; and addresses behavioral issues and emergencies.
• Maintains communication with parents, staff, and school site personnel.
• May undertake other vital job duties related to the designated position and department assignment.
Salary is commensurate with experience.

Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or a related field and one-year programmatic experience with children or equivalent combination of education and experience. Complete education and experience requirements to meet Virginia State Teacher certification for position.
Must undergo pre-employment fingerprinting and Child Protective Services (CPS) background checks. Pass TB test within 30 days of hire and each year thereafter. It is required to annually complete a sworn disclosure statement or affirmation that discloses any criminal convictions or pending criminal charges. First Aid/CPR certifications before hire or immediately upon hire; prefer Child Development Associate (CDA) certification or equivalent. Have or take OSHA (Bloodborne pathogens) training within 30 days of hire; MAT/EMAT training within 90 days of hire; complete all e-learning and supervisory training and other training identified by department in accordance with timelines.
