The purpose of the position is to monitor, control and supervise the use of the Community Center facility, ensuring the continuous, smooth implementation of daily activities and events planned by the Parks and Recreation Department. Employees in this classification perform administrative and supervisory work. Position is responsible for supervising and monitoring Community Center activities, assigned staff and contracted services; serving as a role model for positive and effective customer service; directing customer interaction; coordinating with other community organizations; processing and scheduling rental contracts; and preparing reports, schedules and records. This position requires the ability to routinely multitask, respond calmly and logically in crisis situations and use sound judgment and provide effective leadership to other Community Center staff. Performs related work as required.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Supervises Community Center activities; monitors gymnasium, lobby, fitness rooms, meeting rooms and outdoor field activities; maintains a safe environment; enforces rules, policies and procedures; ensures security of facility.
2. Directs customer interaction; assists patron; responds to patrons’ concerns; directs patrons to proper room location; provides complete and accurate information to patrons on programs, services, classes and events.
3. Supervises the contracted cleaning employees. Assures the community center is cleaned daily per the contract. Provides the contractor with schedules and directions for setting up rentals and events. Communicates with the contractor as needed.
4. Interacts professionally and courteously with other department and town employees to facilitate the delivery of services and programs to center patrons.
5. Maintains a basic knowledge of the Community Center’s operational systems to enable effective decisions on maintenance problems which arise.
6. Generates work schedules and payroll for assigned staff. Finds replacements for absentee staff.
7. Trains employees; oversees and evaluates work of assigned staff; processes employee concerns and problems; develops performance plans when needed.
8. Processes and schedules the contracting of rentals for the department’s meeting rooms, picnic pavilions, and athletic fields. Processes and coordinates birthday party packages, church rental contracts and volleyball court rental contracts.
9. Accounts for the proper management of daily financial receipts.
10. Prepares open-gymnasium schedule.
11. Makes recommendations to department leadership for marketing opportunities and policy and procedures based on observation and experience.
12. Prepares reports on center activities; maintains program records; contributes to division’s budget development.
13. Assists and covers front desk and custodian shifts and duties when needed.
14. Fills vending machines; orders vending supplies and tracks inventory. Pulls money from vending machines and lockers and prepares proper financial records for the vending services.
15. Directs the solicitation of funds and marketing for the scholarship program to business and civic organizations; prepares and submits quarterly status reports for the scholarship program to the Director.
16. Performs related duties as required.

1:30pm - 9:30pm (Sunday 8:30am - 4:30pm)

Due to the nature of a government providing services to the public all duties of this position are required to be fulfilled at the designated worksite in the town. No remote work is available.
