Personal Trainer- Small Group Trainer

The Personal Trainer duties will include but not be limited to:

• Individual will, plan, execute and instruct recreation programs on land or in the water
• Teach leisure education classes in technical/talent fields in the areas of personal and small group training programs.
• Perform other job duties requiring skills, knowledge and physical requirements as demanded by those duties described or less. Individual assignments will be determined by the supervisor based on then current workloads and department needs.

MINIMUMS: At least six (6) months related experience conducting water or land personal training sessions and must possess one of accepted certifications listed below. Must pass a city administered skills and knowledge test. Possession of a valid American Red Cross CPR/AED or American Heart Association Heartsaver CPR, Heartsaver AED or Heartsaver First Aid certification. Accepted Personal Trainer certifications from, but not limited to, one of the following nationally accredited organizations: American Council on Exercise (ACE), American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), Aquatic Education Association (AEA), Aerobics Fitness Association of America (AFAA), Cooper Institute, Interactive Fitness Trainers of America (IFTA), International Fitness Professionals Association (IFPA),National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM), National Exercise Trainers Association (NETA or NDEITA), National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), National Strength Professionals Association (NSPA), Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA), World Instructor Training Schools (WITS)

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: All employees may be expected to work hours more than their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies. Must be able to work rotating shifts (early mornings/days/evenings) including weekends and holidays and be available to work overtime when required to meet operational needs. Varied hours, nights, and weekends will be required.
