Job Summary

Loudoun County Parks, Recreation & Community Services (PRCS) are in search of Childcare Assistants to join our Drop-In Childcare program at the Ashburn Recreation & Community Center. If you enjoy engaging with children between the ages of 1 and 11, can foresee potential challenges, and have the specialized skills to resolve them, this position may be the perfect fit for you. The primary responsibilities for this role will involve overseeing children's recreational activities and providing support in the planning, organization, and maintenance of equipment and supplies. We place a strong emphasis on meticulous planning and the capacity to anticipate problems. Our customers appreciate a proactive work ethic.

We are currently hiring for the following location(s):
• Ashburn Recreation & Community Center, Ashburn, VA

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Maintain cleanliness and orderliness in the room.
• Provide excellent customer service.
• Provide program information as needed.
• Interacts with parents, school staff, and site personnel to facilitate communication.
• Other key job functions related to the specific role and department assignment may also be performed as necessary.

*Work a flexible schedule Monday through Saturday.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent and six (6) months of program experience with children.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Associates degree or equivalent. 
• One (1) year of experience working with children.
• Child Development Associate (CDA) certificate preferred.

Job Contingencies and Special Requirements

Must undergo fingerprinting and Child Protective Services (CPS) background checks. Complete education and experience requirements to meet Virginia license requirements for position. Pass TB test within 30 days of hire and each year thereafter. A sworn disclosure statement or affirmation detailing any criminal convictions or pending charges must be completed annually. First Aid/CPR certifications prior to hire or immediately upon hire. Have or take OSHA (Bloodborne pathogens) and Daily Health Check training within 30 days of hire; MAT training within 90 days of hire; and complete County e-learning and other training requirements.
