This Management Specialist II in Parks & Recreation is assigned to the Operations Division and is responsible for the direct management of multiple departmental functions and operations, including but not limited to facility operations of 4 recreation centers, 2 indoor aquatic facilities, 2 outdoor aquatics facilities, and the skatepark. This work involves the application of highly professional and administrative knowledge and the application of considerable independent judgment and initiative in carrying out assignments to a successful conclusion.

Working independently, the Management Specialist II manages core Departmental business functions, support systems and operational capabilities, using strategic management techniques, OR directs the overall operations, services, staff and maintenance of an integrated system of small, medium and large recreational facilities (this includes responsibility for planning, assigning, supervising, training, and evaluating the work of employees).  Performs other duties as assigned. Reports to a Deputy Director or Director of Parks & Recreation, dependent upon assignment.

The preferred hiring range for this position is between $78,208.00 - $95,784.00 Annually. Starting offer is based on applicable education, experience, and internal equity. Minimum Qualifications:

  • Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in recreation and park management or other pertinent related field.
  • Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in park or recreation-related work, including responsible administrative/managerial experience, preferably in the applicable functional area.

  • Must possess a Certified Pool Operator certification or must have within six (6) months of hire.
