Job Summary

The Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Services is actively looking for a qualified candidate to fill the position of an HR Training Specialist. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong organizational skills, effective communication and presentation skills and the ability to analyze trends and data. This position will require the use of critical thinking skills and the ability to develop training presentation and associated materials.

We are currently hiring for the following location(s):

  • PRCS, 742 Miller Dr SE, Leesburg, VA


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Developing and facilitating learning materials, including the ability to use a variety of training methods, techniques and media to support a diverse audience.
  • Additionally, the incumbent will contribute to training planning sessions for the department and will manage the Learning Management System (LMS) to ensure that required e-learning courses are complete.
  • Additional responsibilities include; Assess trainings (assess required training needs for department staff and maintain program evaluation data), identify trends and gaps in order to develop timely training that will address the needs of staff development within the department. Proved reports and information pertaining to the application of implemented training. Assess needs for divisions within the department, as requested from management. Develop specified and tailored training/facilitated training.
  • Additional critical job responsibilities may be carried out as required by the specific role and departmental assignment.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in human resources, or a related field and two (2) years of related work experience facilitating training, preferably experience working in a local government and/or a Parks, Recreation and Community Services department; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Certified Professional in Talent Development (CPTD) 
  • Experience working within a Parks, Recreation and Community Services organization. 

 

Job Contingencies and Special Requirements

A valid driver's license and a good driving record are required, with driving records subject to annual review to ensure ongoing eligibility. Must undergo pre-employment background check to include criminal, credit, and DMV background checks.
