Bachelor's degree with coursework in health, physical education or related field and moderate experience in Parks and Recreation, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Advises County administration on the department's planning, acquisition, improvement, and maintenance of properties.
Recommends the acquisition of and directs the development of parks and playgrounds for the County.
Prepares the department budget as well as special reports; controls department expenditures.
Coordinates and assists with special events.
Hires and supervises staff; performs staff evaluations; determines departmental policies.
Develops long and short-term plans for the department.
Thorough knowledge of the objectives and principles of public recreation.
Thorough knowledge of the activities which make up a community recreation program.
Ability to develop and administer a recreation program suited to the community's needs.
Ability to plan, organize, coordinate, and direct the activities of personnel involved in a recreation program.
Ability to develop and maintain a budget.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with County officials, associates, and the general public.
