We are seeking a driven and innovative Pool Operations Manager to lead the aquatics team operational staff and serve our community.  The pool operation manager will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of a natatorium, including safety, maintenance, and staff management.  

We are looking for a candidate who can foster a team environment, motivate and recruit lifeguards.  This person will have mechanical experience of operating the natatorium, have good customer service skills, and can focus on details.  We are also looking for someone who can work independently and can think broadly about aquatics and community recreation.  

Duties and Responsibilities: 

 1. Supervises, directs and evaluates division staff, processing employee concern and problems, directing work, counseling, coaching, disciplining and completing and conducting employee performance evaluations.

 2. Prepares division daily schedules; compiles division payroll information.

 3. Recruits and trains new employees.

 4. Maintains cleanliness and appropriate chemical balance of town pool water, including proper calibration and operation of pool computer systems and chemical feeders; monitors pool mechanical operations; performs minor repairs to pool and pool equipment.

 5. Ensures compliance with all local, county and state health codes.

 6. Interacts with patrons regarding inquiries, concerns and complaints.

 7. Makes division purchases, including but not limited to uniforms, equipment and supplies; assists in the preparation of division budget.

 8. Provides first aid and rescue assistance; prepares and reviews accident and incident reports; guides staff in emergency situations.

 9. Instructs lifeguards, including but not limited to CPR, first aid and other relevant safety classes.

10. Substitutes for absentee lifeguards; may substitute for aquatics services manager as needed.

11. Performs other duties as required.

Requirements:
• Associate degree required, supplemented by course work emphasis in parks and recreation or aquatics
• Minimum one year experience or training in indoor swimming pool management
• Certification by the American Red Cross as a lifeguard training instructor
• Possession of a pool operator license issued by Fairfax County Department of Health, or the ability to obtain within six months of employment
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable record

Hours:

8:00am - 5:00pm. Monday - Friday. Varied as Needed.

Due to the nature of a government providing services to the public all duties of this position are required to be fulfilled at the designated worksite in the town. No remote work is available.
