Occoneechee State Park is seeking a responsible and results-oriented individual to fill the Trades Technician I position. The ideal candidate is someone who can work without direct supervision, prioritize tasks, and positively interact with the public to perform the recurring grounds care, maintenance, light construction, and cleaning tasks necessary to operate state park facilities. This position performs general grounds care such as mowing, string trimming, litter clean up, brush clearing, regular facility maintenance such as light construction and cleaning, trail maintenance and construction, and any other park-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Knowledge of hand and power tools required. Must possess a valid Driver's License and reliable transportation. Successful candidates will have a combination of experience, education and/or training in one or more of the following areas:  public relations, housekeeping, maintenance of building, grounds and equipment; general knowledge of the use and care of common hand tools and the use of various cleaning supplies/equipment. Park provides 2 shirts with patches, a hat and name tag. Employee must provide pants. Must be willing to work shift work, weekends, and holidays, including evening shifts.

Additional Considerations:

Small engine repair, equipment operation, carpentry and building trades experience preferred. 

Special Requirements:

A valid State Driver's License is required to operate a state vehicle or if operating a personal vehicle while conducting business on behalf of the agency.
